A COUPLE allegedly killed their landlady on Super Bowl Sunday and lived with her corpse for two weeks while deciding what to do with it.
Lawrence Edward Cannon, 42, and Jennifer Elam, 44, have been charged over the fatal shooting of 69-year-old Mary Ring in the US state of Florida.
Clearwater Police said officers conducted a welfare check at Ring’s Engman Street home, where the couple lived, on Monday.
When questioned by police, Cannon confessed to killing Ring in the early morning hours of Super Bowl Sunday, Tampa Bay Times reports.
Cannon has been charged with first-degree murder in the February 5 slaying, while Elam has been charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
Neighbour Jameka Evans suspected something was wrong when she saw Ring’s tenants moving her furniture.
“All of the sudden, one day they just start bringing all her (Ring’s) furniture outside of the house, and then I ain’t never seen Miss Mary again after that,” she told WFLA.
For two weeks, suspects were trying to figure out a plan to dispose of Mary Ring’s body. One charged with murder, other as accessory after.

Local resident Kenneth Howard said he noticed two suspicious people hanging out at Ring’s home and driving her car around.
“A lot of suspicion been going on. They’ve been using her car and I haven’t seen Ms Mary in over a week, and Ms Mary never comes outside anymore,” he told ABC Action News.
“I saw the cat outside yesterday and I got suspicious. I said, ‘Ms Mary don’t like her cats outside’. They are always inside.”
Cannon and Elam will face court on Tuesday.
